People need to understand that life is not about what they wish to see happen in their lives.Life is what actually does HAPPEN to them, moment by moment. Every catalyst, every setback or blessing, regardless of its nature, is an invitation to address a karmic debt. Even though we, mere humans, have no way of guessing how or why we have merited any unanticipated debt or challenge, if we are unwilling to address the moment holistically – that’s the end of our personal evolution. Nothing and no one can alter either a karmic deadline or an unpreventable outcome. All we are karmically expected to do is deal with it from an accepting heart. Yudit C.S.

When fiction intersects realityDear Reader,My passion is to peek inside the dark corners of my characters’ emotional baggage and engage the reader as a witness to their strength of character.Alex, Maddy, Jo, Emilie and Tamara are gay women. Each one is a main character in my earlier novels. Morgan, a young FTM transgender is the central character in Morgan In The Mirror, my last novel. In many ways, he could be described as a transman coming of age.True, the challenge is to respect my characters’ integrity, not only for the readers’ sake but, more importantly, for the women who, in real life, have felt in their heart a pain that is similar to that of my characters. The scenarios that created themselves in my mind provide a means to explore variations on the theme of female love, desire and gender identity which can be, at times gritty, at times sensual and, at times, both.Because my characters live in this 3-D world of ours, not on Planet X, inevitably, some of their lives intersect with men and, at times, I call upon ‘my women’ to survive the sort of great odds that have marked the lives of many girls and women worldwide. Some readers have also said that aspects of my characters’ experiences have been useful conversation starters on topics such as gender dysphoria, attraction to same sex and non binary gender fluidity when one has been hesitant to broach those experiences with friends or family. What I know for a fact is that, at the very least, they provide very sexy moments to share with someone … close – and that your best friends will love you for lending them a Saint-Clair novel because they’ve been hard to get.Spoiler: these texts are not ideal for anyone who wants a book that can be read in short bursts while keeping an eye on the kids or the bus route.

C.C. Saint-Clair - Lesbian feminist writer currently living in Brisbane, Australia, was first published in 2001. Her debut novel, North and Left
From Here [Take II], launched her as the 'undisputed mistress of the sensual lesbian storyline' and the Alex Delaforet series.
Though the sensuality of her writing appeals beyond label boundaries, Gay, Lesbian and Transgender welfare associations have extolled the touching sensitivity Saint-Clair has deployed in the handling of her plot beats and character development, giving further kudos to tag already assigned to her back in 2004: “The Thinking Woman’s Lesbian Romance Writer.”C.C. Saint-Clair went on to writing another six novels.

(September 9, 2005) After weeks of deliberation, the Rhode Island International Film Festival (RIIFF) is pleased to announce the winners for this year’s Barren Branches GLBT Screenplay Competition. Many excellent screenplays were submitted covering the spectrum from comedy to drama to contemporary to historical.
1st Prize: Outing Joey – J.T. Tepnapa, Los Angeles, CA3rd Prize: Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell – Zachary Lee DeGregorio, Los Angeles, CA
“C.C. Saint-Clair’s genre is GLBT, but we were struck by how vividly she portrayed human emotion and, in particular, Morgan’s need to BE a man in her screenplay Far From Maddy. We felt that her story speaks to a larger audience.”
Stepping Stones - Three volumes of mind-meanders focussed on holistic spirituality and a rethink of the roles of our Heart and Soul in our day-to-day.“What you refer to as “mind-meanders" I have to disagree emphatically. The breadth, depth, amount of wisdom, etc. you possess in your writing transcends that description.” - Reneé Phillips

Insights from the 'Tough Stuff' Collection crafted to illuminate our path towards inner contentmentRecognizing that personal evolution unfolds slowly and profoundly from the inside-out, these writings serve as beacons on our ongoing journey of self-discovery.As Earth dwellers, we play dual roles as co-producers and lead actors in the diverse tapestry of our lives. Amidst the good, bad, and neutral moments that span our existence on planet Earth, the inevitability of occasional missteps is a testament to the complexity of our shared human experience.Grounded in the timeless adage of "Be careful what you wish for," the Stepping Stones seriesand the 'Tough Stuff' collection of blogs delve into the intricate dimensions of overcoming ingrained habits tied to the pursuit of ego-based desires. Through an exploration of the challenges involved in exerting heart-based control over our thoughts, Saint-Clair advocates for a holistic spirituality that recognizes our capacity – and occasional inability – to coherently respond to the present moment as a defining factor in our journey toward self-realization.This holistic approach to spirituality, as discussed in these writings, becomes a guiding lens through which we deal or grapple with whatever springs up in the present moment – moment after moment. The moment underfoot can be accepted as a karmically choreographed experience we have (consciously or unconsciously) co-created with Soul and, of course, with the universe. And all is, for now, for our personal growth, exactly how it needs to be.By acknowledging the karmic choreography that fills the little and huge moments in our day-to-day, today and every day, we gain the power to shape our reality from within and without.Dear Reader, whether you find these pages in 2024 or 2043, the 'Tough Stuff' collection promises a timeless exploration of the universal quest to transcend old habits, confront the challenges life presents, and authentically manifest the truest expression of ourselves. Let this be your companion on the transformative journey within."
2nd Prize: Far From Maddy – C.C. Saint-Clair, Australia
“Based on a true story, Benchmarks focuses on unattainable female desire. It is set in the Montmartre district of Paris, the French snowfields, and the Riviera. It is a classic – pure lesbian longing classic”“As a little child at the movies, I had many a time peeked through my fingers when confronted by scary pictures. But now I had to look at these visions from the past. I had to grab them by their edges, one at the time, like so many thin and cold photographs devoid of life. And one by one, I had to grab them and release them, shrunken-thin and empty.”
Far From Maddy
April 10 2007
Many a beautiful and gentle dyke-heart has been broken by the here-now-gone-tomorrow straight woman who was unable to commit either to the somewhat marginalized lifestyle, to sexual intimacy without a nature-made penis and, pre-dating the validation of Pink Parenting, to a life most likely without children.Freeze-FrameImagine a park: lovely old trees. Birds chirping away in the branches. Gently sloping lawn. Dappled shade. A lone figure on a picnic blanket, book in hand, tuned into private thoughts. It is you. You are in the park. You are reading, but more importantly, you are elsewhere in your head. The book you are reading is Far From Maddy.
Jagged Dreams
October 30 2005
Jagged Dreams, is about. It goes like this: on the one hand, I’ve focused on the sensuality of lesbian love (always foremost in my mind) and, on the other, I’ve targeted homophobia and incest. This having been said, the feedback I’ve been getting so far suggests that most readers still come away from Jagged Dreams thinking this novel is really about tender mind-wanderings, lustful love and the struggle of keeping one’s promises.OK, so … beyond regularly reminding myself that the society in which I live is not as peachy-pink for everybody like the way it has finally evolved for me now that I am able to indulge my creativity from inside the emotionally safe life my partner affords me, I wanted to build in an extra layer, something extra such as violent homophobia – something that is very different from what I normally write about, namely the overwhelming rollercoaster-like, mind-blasting ‘thrill’ of being attracted to someone we know we cannot afford at the emotional level, for whatever reason. The prologue focuses on the aggression perpetrated on Tamara sets the plot in motion.Later, a couple of red-herrings – loose connections to the preceding novel, Risking-me, where Tamara is first introduced, in opposition to Alex, contending for Emilie’s affection – refresh the issue of domestic violence within the lesbian community, my community. While tracking down the ‘bad guy’, the trick was not to get caught up into a genre switch and stray from my primary focus – lesbian romance that exposes the vulnerable often emotional side of real lesbians’ lives, warts and all, through painful introspection.
Morgan In The Mirror
October 24 2004
Simply because, as a cisgender woman, once I became interested in the notion of gender on a continuum, particularly where it is relevant to female-to-male gender dysphoria, I realised there was not a lot of rich, positive, real-to-life fiction out there either for the FTM readers [of fiction] or their SOFFAs or questioning youths to relate to.It is my hope that Morgan – a 23-year-old, post-chest op, trans-man – and his life journey – will go some way towards filling a little of this unfortunate vacuum.
North & Left From Here [Take II] Then & Now
January 08 2002
The novel that launched the ‘undisputed mistress of the sensual lesbian storyline’ and the Alex Delaforet series. Many years ago already, I came home feeling particularly jaded from a night on the scene.Though I had never kept a diary, I picked up a notepad and jotted down flashes of discomfort related to the alienating nature of the night’s experience. The following day, I found myself fleshing out these snippets of raw emotion into full sentences and paragraphs, which later became the opening chapter of Thirty-Five and a Half, later renamed North and Left from Here.I took to this stream-of-consciousness style of writing like a duck to water; just like I had latched on to my lesbian identity at seventeen – and never looked back.
Risking Me
November 02 2004
“Risking-me is really about 2 of the 3 things I most worry about: one is my fear is of ever repeating abusive patterns as I’ve known them for most of my life. The other is of putting my emotional self at risk. So, I can say that I found that novel very relevant. Besides, there’s a sex scene in there that set up from the beginning, but…if you’re patient, it’ll come to you as a delicious reward. Very sexy.”“About time someone, who better than a dyke, should expose a topic that too many of us prefer to keep hush hush. It’s great because it has an intelligent plot and it’s great because it’s a sexy read. Great mix.”
Silent Goodbyes

Join Emillie and Solange on board Lazy moonI reached for her hand and pulled her close to me behind the wheel. She draped an arm around my shoulder, a little stiffly at first and for a momanr, together but with different eyes, churning different thoughts, we looked in the same direction, straight ahead, beyond mast and pulpit. We eventually lost ourselves in a rare moment of total contentedness with the seascape around us. Wispy cotton-strand clouds stretched ahead. The wind was blowing firmly but steadily. A few isolated white caps were cavorting towards us, still thin and unthreatening.Under the afternoon sun, thick cords swelled and glistened on port side as so many silverbacks undulated away from us. The watery seal of the afternoon moon was hovering above the mast. “Here, have a feel of the wheel.” I had eased myself away from the wheel and pulled her gently into position in front of me. “It’s a different feel than when motoring. Just keep it going as it is.”
